IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER TERMS:
By riding with the 3F Bicycling Club, you affirm, understand and agree to the following:
- You are at least 18 years old.
- Bicycling is an inherently dangerous sport. Hazards include, but are not limited to, hazardous terrain, inclement and hot weather, dehydration, sun burn, hypothermia, heat exhaustion and heat stroke, altitude sickness, alergic reactions, unpredictable wildlife (i.e. mountain lions, poisonous snakes, scorpions, bees, etc.), poison oak, and many other dangers. Accidents can lead to serious injury or death. Neither the 3F Bicycling Club, or any of its ride leaders are responsible for your safety. You expressly waive any and all liability and take full responsibilty for your own safety.
- You must have a helmet, gloves, and eye protection - no exceptions!
- Wear clothing that is suitable for riding. (Use common sense.) For example, don't wear long sleeve shirts and jeans when it's 80 degrees out! There are better ways to protect yourself!
- You are responsible for knowing the routes. Study the routes BEFORE you ride them and always have a map of the area with you. A GPS is also highly recommended.
- Always bring more water than you need for a ride. You should be drinking one liter of water per hour of riding and possibly more when temparatures exceed 80 degrees. It is best to carry your water either in a hydration pack or in a bottle carrier on your bike.
- Always bring extra clothing on cold days. Temperatures can drop quickly.
- Bring any medications you are taking with you on the ride. If you have any special medical conditions (i.e. asthma, diabetes, heart conditions, allergies, etc.) be sure to let someone know this before you begin the ride. Always keep your identification, emergency contact and insurance information with you.
- Always bring first aid supplies and extra food with you.
- There is no charge to particpate in rides.
- Cell phones may not work in isolated areas.
- Do not park on private land without the owner's permission.
- The 3F Bicycling Club is not responsible for tickets, towing, damage to or theft of your personal property. Look around for signs wherever you park. Always lock your vehicle and bicycle when you're not using them.
- Always check your bicycle before you come to a ride to make sure it is in good working order.
- Always bring two extra tubes, spare parts, a pump and tools.
- Trail conditions change constantly. The 3F Bicycling Club does not warrant the conditions of any ride route.
- Do not ride in areas that have been closed due to rain, fire, rehabilitation, maintenance, etc. Most county and state parks are closed for three days after it rains at least an inch in any one day.
- Do not ride off-trail or on illegal trails. Do not alter the trails in any way.
- It is your own responsiblity to decide whether the difficulty of any particular ride matches your experience.
- Do not bring illegal drugs to any of the rides. No smoking is allowed during rides!
- Alcohol impairs your jugement and coordination and it dehydrates you. Therefore, you should refrain from drinking alcohol before or during a ride.
- The no-drop policy does not apply unless a ride is led by the 3F Bicycling Club. If no 3F ride leader is present, ask the people if they are willing to wait for you BEFORE beginning the ride.
- Always yield to horses, hikers, and cars.
- Remember that the same laws that apply to motor vehicles also apply to bicyclists.
- Riders going uphill have the right of way.
- When passing a rider, let them know where you will be passing and let them know if there are any other riders in the group behind you.
- And lastly, remember this is a primarily social biking group! We're not riding to beat the best time of the routes. We're riding to have fun!
